Your professional path is part of the SJU landscape of success stories. We are here for you, and proud of you, with each individual achievement. We also anticipate the day when you may be mentoring other students and recent alumni as they discover their purpose, completing the circle of service that enables Saint Joseph’s to offer such a transformational academic experience.
As a Saint Joseph’s alum, you have a wealth of resources available through your alma mater to further your career:
The Hawk Career Network - powered by LinkedIn
LinkedIn, the fastest-growing and largest professional networking site on the web, boasts more than 30 million users. Membership is free and, as a member, you can subscribe to the Saint Joseph’s University Hawk Career Network of more than 3,000 alumni (and growing). Members can connect with fellow alumni to identify job leads, serve as mentors to current students, discuss professional issues, and share and provide referrals. The Hawk Career Network is the quickest, most efficient way to network with Hawks around the world. The Offices of Alumni Relations and Career Development are partnering to host a Linked-In Tutorial featuring input from hiring managers on how to get the most out of the site.
Networking Events
Events hosted by the Alumni Association offer alumni and friends of Saint Joseph’s the opportunity to network and reconnect. If you’re looking for targeted opportunities, please visit www.alumni.sju.edu and follow the link titled, “News and Events.” Also, keep in mind that our Career Development Center hosts between 16 and 20 career- or field-focused Networking Nights as well as two Career Fairs on the campus each year. These events are open to alumni interested in identifying networking contacts and job leads. For a complete list of events sponsored by the Career Development Center, please visit www.sju.edu/careers.
Job Postings
SJUcareers, a comprehensive online site, provides SJU alumni with access to regional and national career opportunities. Through SJUcareers, you can post resumes and cover letters and apply to positions electronically. To create or access an existing SJUcareers account, visit www.sju.edu/careers.
Continuing Education
An investment in education pays off in measurable dividends. According to a recent study conducted by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate among individuals with a professional degree is nearly fifty-percent lower than it is among those whose highest degree is a bachelor’s. In addition, those with a professional degree earned nearly twice as much. SJU offers a wealth of post-graduate opportunities ranging from our nationally recognized MBA and Executive MBA programs, to masters degrees in Food and Pharmaceutical Marketing, graduate degrees in Criminal Justice and Organizational Development, and masters and doctoral degrees in Education. For more information on these programs, please visit www.sju.edu/admissions/graduate.
Career Consultation
Alumni re-entering the job market may find themselves in need of assistance when updating resumes, preparing cover letters, or relearning interviewing skills. The Career Development Center offers one-on-one consultations for alumni looking for assistance with these and other issues. To schedule a consultation, or for more details on career services for SJU alumni, please call 610-660-3100.
