How Volunteers Participate
Whether you serve as a site leader, signed-up for an established service location, or participate individually in your area, you are part of a larger community of Hawks who put the Jesuit mission into action on the same day, in working as men and women for others.
Are you interested in helping to grow Global Community Day? Do you have a favorite non-profit that you want to make sure gets some SJU help that day? Are you interested in bringing SJU to YOUR town?
If you answer yes to any of these questions, we would love to have you join us next year as a Site Leader. Check out our Site Leader Resource Center for more information. To register your site to be added to the list of available sites for 2014, Fill Out Your Site Information Here.
How We Began
In 2008, the SJU National Alumni Board began a
new tradition rooted in the Jesuit tradition of service to others. The
goal was to identify one day each year when SJU alumni could come
together and serve their local communities no matter where they were in
life…or in the world. That first year, we were up and running in five
cities: Boston, New York City, Washington D.C., Chicago and
Philadelphia. Since then, National Community Day has grown exponentially
and has now GONE GLOBAL!
If you would like more information or are interested in participating in the next Global Community Day, contact globalcommunityday@sju.edu with questions.
Current Students
Global Community Day is a partnership with our current students as well. Undergraduate student leaders partner with local non-profit organizations to also create volunteer sites. Current students can sign up to participate in the morning of service and our student leaders help organize the groups and transport the students to each location.
If you are current student and would like to sign up for the next Community Day, go to http://clubs.sju.edu/communityday/ for more information.
