To Travel or Not To Travel?: U.S.-Cuba Foreign Relations, the Embargo, and American "Tourism" to Cuba
Tuesday, September 23, 2014 | 12:00 - 1:00 p.m.
More Americans are traveling to Cuba now than at any time since the 1959 Cuban revolution! A limited program of meaningful cultural exchange allows for people-to-people interactions despite the continuation of the U.S. embargo and fraught relations between the two countries.
Join Richard Gioioso Ph.D. ’98, Saint Joseph’s University assistant professor of political science, for a discussion of U.S.-Cuban foreign relations and American tourism to Cuba. Special guest speakers will include SJU students who traveled to Cuba through Dr. Gioioso’s Contemporary Cuban Politics and Society course.
